I had cleared my cache and was unable to verify the redirect link by mousing over. I verified with others that the link isn't changed. I don't quite know what is happening, but could you please look into it again? I tried to look at it in IE8 (with cache cleared) and the yellow login expandy box didn't expand at all, even after restarting the browser.
Oops. Sorry, my misunderstanding. This is what happens when non-tech people like me make assumptions. Anyway, I held off on responding until I confirmed with others they were still having problems. Here is what I received from one user this morning. I checked with her, and she has cleared her cache:
I'm using a Mac OSX ver. 10.5.8
I have not done anything on the forums since the site launched. So today:
using firefox 8.0.1 - was logged in on the site as jrweblackey. clicked on "community" and was logged out. I saw "login/signup" at top right (where it previously said "jrweblackey" and had options to sign in at the right of the page.
but then when I went back to community, I was logged out again.
using Chrome 15.0.874.121 - was logged in on the site as jrweblackey, clicked on "community" and was directed to the "hey, you haven't used the forums yet, welcome" page here: http://community.cartalk.com/entry/handshake/proxy
I clicked "link to my existing account" but got this message: Sorry, no account could be found related to the email/username and password you entered.
so then I chose "create new account" and got "Sorry, permission denied."
Hi, can you please update the logout button at the top of the page to link to the same logout that is part of the Community Logout above the Ask a Question box on the right? Thank you!
Just to follow up, Jay, our project manager, sent me this follow up:
Now both buttons, the logout in the yellow bar and the sign out button that is part of the community template are this: http://www.cartalk.com/user/logout?
Previously, the Sign Out button on the community template was a sign out that had some code with a "key+number" that actually signed users out of both community and Car Talk.
Prior to the change, If you use the logout button in the yellow it brought you back to Cartalk.com home page and it looks like you are signed out. But if you click back into community using the navigation, it looks like you are still signed in. That did not happen with the Sign Out button.
The logout button at the top, in the yellow area only had one URL, that is correct. But it never worked correctly. The signout button, that is above the Search Cartalk Community, had a different link. That link, when used, worked to sign out users completely. I can't give the parameters of the Signout button link because that was generated by Vanilla.

I just checked in on this and the login button still points to cartalk.com/user?destination=node. Can you please double-check what happened?
Thanks!
Carolyn
Note that the yellow box may not work this moment because we're working with your team to debug the Cars Toolbox. It should be resolved tonight.

We just finished resolving the last Javascript errors last night; they may have stopped the login box from expanding. Have you tried since then?

but then when I went back to community, I was logged out again.

Now both buttons are working the wrong way.
As far as I can tell, the new theme has never had any other link for logout other than that.
If you'd like a different logout URL, I need to know what parameters need to be passed and how they're stored in the user's session (their names).
Thank you for the note.
