new user with sudden posting difficulty

Hi again. I just got an e-mail yesterday from a user (texases) who has been using the forums actively since the switch to SSO, but he has suddenly become unable to log in and use the Car Talk forums as he had before. He uses IE9.0.8112.16421 on Windows 7, but he is also unable to use the forums on IE8/XP and Chrome/XP. When he logs in using the gray Sign In box above the Car Talk Community logo, he is redirected to the Topic Index page. When he accesses a discussion thread, he is prompted to log in once again if he wants to comment. If he uses the expanding yellow box at the top of the page, he is brought to a page requesting him to confirm his account information repeatedly. He has cleared cookies and restarted the browsers. Any ideas? Thank you for your help.

I should clarify he's not a new registrant; he's been a longtime user for years. The subject line is a little misleading.
