Can't import into Vanilla forum

Hello,

I created a trial Vanilla forum today and tried to import a phpBB3 export
(which worked on my private Vanilla install), but when it uploads the file
and I press the "Start Import" button, it does nothing and immediately
reverts back to the 1st input form. Nothing is imported.

What am I doing wrong here?

Hi Mike, how large is the import? If it's small enough you could zip it up and send it to me at lincoln@vanillaforums.com and I'll take care of it for you. Let me know if that'll work for you.

I import a vanilla 1 forum to a new one but it can't : "Warning: All data in this forum will be overwritten.
The import file is not in the correct format."

I put the vanilla2export.php in the old one, it give me a html file that I rename export.txt or export.gz but when importing it it doesn't work. Do you know why?

Hi @allergie, you need to upload the vanilla2export.php to your website's FTP, then view the page in your browser, so something like: http://yoursite.com/vanilla2export.php. Then fill in the form it presents you.

I did, of course. And it give a plain text file

I think that the may be the bug is in the result of vanilla2export.php that goes to vanilla2export.php? and then print in the browser the result which I save as .txt

OK, which Vanilla forum site are you attempting to import to?

Try checking the "Save export file to server" checkbox and then retrieving the file from the FTP afterward.

@Lincoln I wonder if I have the good vanilla export file.
I downloaded this http://vanillaforums.org/addon/porter-core 1.6.4 and have no "save export file to server". And when I use it, I just get the data in my browser (no download) as webpage. Which I save as export.txt file but which not seem to be well formatted for the import tool.

Could you tell me what is wrong?
