Some questions about Badges, Design and Google Analytics before I sign up...

I've signed up for the free trial and have noticed in other threads that customising Badges and Reactions are only available on the paid plans. I'm currently in the trial period and would like to start paying for the Small Group plan - what do I have to do?

A couple of other questions:
1) What add-ons are NOT available on the Small Group plan?
2) Can I add our own Google Analytics code on the Small Group plan?
3) Is the only way to have full control over the layout/design is to be on the Small Business plan?

I really like the way your product has developed of late. Can't wait to sign up.

Cheers,

  • Hi @PhotoMerchant

Your free trial account has the same functionality as a paying Small Group Account including the badges and reactions which you can configure in the Dashboard menu. You'll have to enable the reactions that you want to make available.

    To answer your questions:
    1) The add-ons NOT available on the SG plan are:
    AdvancedStats
    cleditor
    CivilTongueEx
    FileUplod
    Flagging
    Hellban
    InThisDiscussion
    jsconnect, LastEdited
    Multilingual
    Pockets
    ProfileExtender
    Sitemaps
    SplitMerge
    Spoilers
    Spoof
    StopAutoDraft
    TopPosters
    TouchIcon
    TrollManagement
    VanillaPop
    Viglinks
    Whispers
    WhosOnline

    2) We can insert your Google Analytics code. It has to be done manually by support because the code interferes with our own stats tracking code. Please send your Google tracking ID number to support if you would like this enabled.

    3) The SMB plan lets you edit the HTML and CSS of your forum. Some SG customers get around this by embedding the forum into an existing web page. There are some downsides to this including the impact on your site's SEO.

You can always upgrade your free trial to the SMB plan by going to your Account page. We won't charge you until 1 month from your initial sign up date which gives you time to downgrade if you don't need that plan level.
  • Thanks for the quick response.

I thought that i'd read in another thread that the ability to edit the options for Badges you needed to be on a paid account. For some reason I can create new badges but I cannot set any options for them. How do I determine the options for new badges that I create?

I'm looking to find out how to have badges automatically assigned to actions. For example, when I changed my profile picture I was automatically awarded the "Photogenic" badge. When I click the Give or Edit buttons, there doesn't appear to be a way to create rules for receiving the badges. Is it possible to create new badges with our own rules?
  • @PhotoMerchant It is possible, but only as a paid customization. We don't have a generic way of assigning actions to badges yet; they need to be coded.
