Updates on July 17th

Hi Guys,

Just a few questions/issues:

- Would it be possible to get a breakdown/blogpost with all the updates, so it doesn't come as a surprise? Or could you list the important ones here?

- The text box used to be something that we could enlarge, which was handy when writing a whole load of text. That "pulldown" feature seems to be gone now.

- When clicking the "code" button on the top of the text box, it seems that using the extended toolbar underneath it makes the tools sometimes not work. I also cannot seem to see the code for <code> in one of my posts, and only see the actual result, which means I cannot edit it (but when I click preview, the yellow background of code shows up).

- I tried using basic html in a post I'm editing, but it's not picking it up.

Thanks again for providing such an awesome platform, sorry to be a downer :(

    Hello @shedoesitall

    1) We're going to be dropping a blog post about this update shortly. We're still experimenting with how best to announce new feature sets so your feedback is welcome.

    2) This is a known annoyance that we're working on solving.

    3) Unfortunately this one is a case of misunderstanding. The two toolbars are not complimentary. One is not an 'extension' of the other. This is why they do not work. ButtonBar is a simple markup assistant, whereas the WYSIWYG editor you're running alongside it is designed to display marked up text in real time, much like a word processor. They are not compatible, so you must choose one or the other.

    4) This is related to (3), since the WYSIWYG treats everything entered into it as text, and HTML will therefore not work.
  • Ah ok! Is there a way to take away the toolbar ontop if we have chosen the WYSIWG toolbar? This may avoid confusion as people asked me why they cannot click on things.

Thanks for the SUPER quick update. Now waiting for Sales to get back to me about some changes, and I'll be able to go a little more public with the forum. Yay! Thanks again. :)

Go into your dashboard, find "Browse Addons", and disable "Button Bar"
  • Ah, silly me. Thanks!

Also, I noticed a warning add-on, is this new? If so, that's awesome!

How does it work? I enabled it but not sure where I can find it.
  • Yes, the Warning addon was released Tuesday. Use the gear icon in someone's profile to give them a warning, which can temporarily remove privileges from a user. :)
  • Yes, just found it by accident and tested it in a guinea pig friend :D Thanks!

Just a small thing I wanted to suggest: It would be nice if we could make a post (as a moderator) a warning (like if the topic is getting heated) with some sort of way to make it stand out, like a red border around the post with "Moderator message" or something. Do you think something like that might be in the cards for future developments?
  • @shedoesitall Not a bad idea. We'll think about it. :)
