I Cannot Post a New Discussion or Tag It

On the Vengeance forums, I cannot post without receiving error messages. This is occurring in both Chrome and Firefox and other sites are working, so it doesn't seem like an Internet of browser issue.

Attached is one of the images I received.

I have a LOT of forum work to do today, so any assistance is appreciated. Thanks!

Two more questions:

1. Our users are getting a lot of spam in their profile pages, especially on our Lucky Cruise forums. I thought I had spam filters on--any way to adjust this?

2. We're still encountering the big pain-in-the-you-know-where bug where the first/solo poster's external ID for Facebook isn't showing. This applies to all of our forums. Any idea when this will be repaired?

Thus far, now able to post. Will touch base if I continue to encounter problems.

And yes, one more question--is there a way to make admin/moderator comments in a default style, such as bolded and in a different color?

Hi @CasinoMaster, enabling the "Role Title" addon will add a CSS class to every comment per the user's role ("Administrator", "Member", etc). You can then use Customize Theme -> Edit CSS to style comments on a per-role basis.

On the Spartacus forums, I'm having trouble either clicking on or copy/pasting links to get to a particular discussion. I receive a very large permission error. Any thoughts?

What discussion links particularly are giving you that message? All of them?

Sorry for not following up--this resolved itself later. But all of the links gave me that message, just on Spartacus.

Also, any updates on the top/solo posters' Facebook external IDs not showing?

I was unable to find the options you mentioned to default bold or color admins' posts, despite following instructions.

Finally, is there someone with whom I can touch base personally if we have issues that involve a banned/troll-marked poster? We once again encountered a poster marked as a troll who was able to bump up threads with no text and when she did post, it was a regular post. This is currently happening on two forums and I ended up having to ban one poster.

Hi @CasinoMaster, you'd need to write CSS rules in your Custom Theme panel to change the role appearances. If you tell me what rules you want, I can apply them for you (ex: "Administrators should be italics and red" etc).

The FacebookID addon wasn't updated after we changed the layout of Vanilla a few months ago. I've added it to the todo list for our next release in early September (about 2 weeks).

You can email me via lincoln@vanillaforums.com with Troll Management issues. Can you provide the user & discussion that this happened with?

The e-mail address is helpful and I'll let you know if these problems continue. They are sometimes spotty and I have to unmark/re-mark.

Just a note that I'm again receiving permissions error messages--on Picturiffic and Vengeance forums thus far. I've taken a screen shot and will check to see if I'm able to post.

Edited--I just figured out what this is. The forums logged me out while I was writing. I'll see if there is some sort of timer I should be paying attention to.

Howdy CasinoMaster, we're aware of some additional spam getting thru our filters and we're working on some solutions that will be deployed soon.

The Facebook addon fix is slated for release by the end of September, with our next major update.
