Vanilla is searching for a proven sales performer to help us increase our market share in the SMB and Fortune 500 markets.

The ideal candidate is someone who can articulate the value of a SaaS based solution and possess a proven track record selling into SMB and Fortune 500 accounts. The position is based out of Ottawa or Montreal.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Successfully manage prospects through a strategic milestone based sales process
  • Package and present proposals and business documentation to C-level executives
  • Manage a sales funnel to ensure accurate forecasting of sales revenue
  • Consistently meet and exceed aggressive monthly and annual quotas
  • Deliver solution based and client centric sales messaging
  • Present high impact product demonstrations using GoToMeeting

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience selling SaaS or web based applications
  • Strong document packaging and presenting skills
  • Prior experience forecasting and managing accounts in salesforce.com
  • Knowledge of basic mobile technologies
  • Knowledge of basic HTML and CSS
  • Highly proficient with Google Docs, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior experience selling community management or forum technologies
  • Proven history of managing deals north of $50K
  • Solid understanding of contract and procurement processes
  • Capable of targeting strategic accounts through outbound messaging

Ops Engineer / Linux System Administrator

Vanilla is hiring an Operations Engineer / Linux System Administrator. We operate an Openstack Private Cloud on which we host our SaaS product and are looking for a System Administrator to help develop and maintain this infrastructure. This is a DevOps role and the successful candidate will be expected to support the development team and internalize a sense of ownership and pride in our infrastructure.

As a member of a small team, your tasks will be extremely varied and the level of personal responsibility will be high. This role has a coding/development component as we interact with a number of RESTful APIs and have built several tools to leverage their power. The successful candidate will be expected to use and improve these tools on an ongoing basis. As a hosting provider we strive for 24x7 uptime and our customers expect the same, so experience with large distributed systems is a huge asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the ongoing operation and maintenance of existing servers.
  • Work with developers and support to continuously improve uptime of hosted service.
  • Contribute to the research and development of new technologies on Vanilla's network.
  • Build and improve infrastructure dashboards to promote visibility throughout Vanilla.
  • Share on-call responsibilities with the rest of the team.

Skills:

  • Solid Linux background with experience building and configuring servers.
  • Strong understanding of virtualization; Openstack-specific knowledge a big plus.
  • Experience with centralized config management concepts (Chef, Puppet, Salt, etc).
  • Understanding of system monitoring tools and concepts (Nagios, Pingdom, etc).
  • Expertise in an N-tier, highly available web application environment (ours is large and complex).
  • Ability to write PHP code and deal with MySQL databases.
  • Familiar with, and proponent of, modern source control (we use Git).
  • Extreme comfort with the Linux command line interface.
  • Relevant post secondary education, or equivalent industry experience.
