The Akismet and StopForumSpam plugins check content and usernames against real-time spam blocklists. Suspected spam is put into a spam queue.
Users can identify spam by clicking on the spam Reaction. If a post gets enough clicks, the content gets sent to the spam queue.
Links in posts are set so that search engines don’t crawl them. This creates a disincentive to spammers looking to get their links into search engine indexes.
If a spam-bot does get through, flood control prevents it from filling the community with garbage.
Ranks can be used to restrict a member’s abilities including adding links to posts and being able to edit a post after a certain time has passed. This helps combat human spammers.
When you find a spammer, you can ban them by username, email, email domain or IP address. You can also delete all posts by the spammer and clean up the mess they created.
